The Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of Bosnia and is an independent organization of voluntarily associated municipalities and cities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, established for the purpose of development of local self-governments, and improvement and protection of local self-government units’ interests.
The Association was established on 29 May 2002 in Mostar as a non-governmental and non-profit organization. The Memorandum of establishing the Association has been signed by 54 members. All members adopted the Statute of this newly established Association. The Association is a legal successor of the Community of municipalities and towns of the Socialistic Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina established in 1972, aiming at improvement and development of local self-government systems, protection of local community interests, and development of local and international cooperation.

WHAT WE DO
The Association is the place where members can exchange experience and opinions, promote common interests, participate in the legislation adoption procedures, and establish cooperation with local and international Associations, organizations and government institutions.
The Mission of the Association is to promote democratic and efficient local government in line with the Principles of the European Charter of local self-government, as follows:
• Advocacy and lobbying for the common interest of its members at the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina level, state level and international level;
• Professional services (legal and financial);
• Setting up of a platform for exchange of knowledge and information (e-mail, web pages, conferences, seminars, workshops, public debates, round tables, etc.).
